Mental Health Awareness month - show you care

This sweet little pom pom bracelet was created to support todays sufferers whose lives are affected by a mental health illness. To name a few perhaps you or someone you know may be suffering from anxiety and depression - two of the most common yet little understood conditions. Many of us live with it but rarely talk about it and suffer in complete silence. This is one of the main barriers to recovery. No one should have to go through this alone. The pom pom bracelet has a small tag which carries the message 'NEVER give up' to remind you daily that despite your illness and whatever you're going through that you should never lose hope. Hopefully with this bracelet we can spread the word. Last year saw the launch of my mint green pom pom bracelet for mental health awareness month which quickly became a favourite amongst all you etsians! I've now added yellow and peach pom poms into the collection so you can pick some lovely colours:)

 

 

Autumn Wonderment

 

Nature is a key theme and feature of my work and I'm really excited to launch my new autumn/winter 2013 collection Autumn wonderment based around the English woodland. These are some of the photos taken on a beautiful sunny September afternoon outside my home in Nottinghamshire.  Found objects during the walk were used to create the set for the photo shoot of the A/W13 collection. 'Forgotten Dreams' Antique English key and flower necklace at Orchha Jewels

Circa. 1900's and originally found looking rather rusty and tired I set about cleaning and restoring these little iron furniture and jewellery box keys to its natural beauty. You will notice that I have not painted over the metal as this loses the antique quality of the key - I wanted to retain the rustic feel. The key is strung on a luxurious piece of velvet ribbon in a dusky rose colour and finished off with a lovely little bunch of cotton lace bound forget me-not flowers. This is a really pretty summer necklace full of charm and character - no two keys are the same it is truly one of a kind!

I have always had a thing for beautiful antique with lockets being my latest find. There is something about them that I love in that it can be made highly personal to the wearer for example it can be engraved with initials and symbols and decorated with enamel or embedded with gemstones. A photo, message or lock of hair inside can be kept close to the heart ... maybe they tell a story... they are quite simply more than jewellery they are something you can hopefully cherish for years to come.
